Halloween movies
People love being scared. They seem to love it even more at Halloween. I’ve never been a big fan of horror movies, but I do enjoy a good suspense film now and then. Two of the scariest movies I recall as a young man were “The Watcher in the Woods” (oddly enough, a Disney film, as I recall), and “Something Wicked This Way Comes”. Yes, I know, pretty mild stuff by today’s standards, but they played for suspense, not just gross-out. And there was an actual plot that didn’t involve some crazed, murderous freak out for revenge.
Of course now, with “The Watcher in the Woods” it didn’t hurt that I watched that one sitting next to a girl who tended to grab my hand whenever the movie got tense. Yeah, she was the girl next door, but still…
